Led by Thomas Moore
Wednesdays, January 18 - February 15 (5 sessions) at 6:30pm
John Paul II Youth Room
The Socratic Method: The weekly discussions will be led and guided in the format of a Socratic seminar. If you're not familiar with the Socratic seminar method, participants help one another understand the ideas, issues, and values reflected in a text through group discussion. Students are responsible for facilitating their group discussion around the ideas in the text, so please come prepared to participate!
The Guide: Augustine Institute graduate student, Thomas Moore, graduated from Thomas Aquinas College, where he spent 4 years immersed in studying and discussing the Great Books. During that time, he was asked by professors on several occasions to lead discussions for their children on C.S. Lewis's Space Trilogy. He currently serves on the faculty of Our Lady of Victory Chesterton Academy, leading freshman through discovering and understanding Euclid's geometry.
Zoom: For optimization of the Socratic discussion method, there will be no option to join via Zoom, and the group size will be limited to no more than 20.
Fees: There is no charge for the session. You may supply your own copy of the book, or purchase a new, paperback copy through the church for $9.99.
Sign-up no later than Thursday, January 12
